What is X-Marathon

X-Marathon is Epic Australian Expedition Adventure Race. Expedition adventure racing, although it is called “racing”, is not a 100% competition. It is more about the expedition part of the challenge, exploration and discovery of dramatic landscapes and hidden gems and battling against yourself.

You also find you help each other (in your own and other teams), finishing hand to hand. This is a true sense of expedition adventure race - to defeat tough terrain and your weak self, which may be whispering to you in the middle of night “give up, you are too tired, you have got enough already”.

The supplied kayaking equipment and organised logistics for the race takes hassle off you ; all what is needed to do is to get 4 people together, take your bikes and some basic gear, arrange accommodation and come to discover the Gippsland region of Victoria.

The exact course and race start are kept secret until the registration and briefing. Approximate distances and timing for each discipline are provided beforehand, but prior to race weekend you should be ready for everything. Expected winning time is about 24-25 hours and cut off time is 46 hours.

You don’t have to worry about your gear as organisers will transport equipment to particular points of the course (Transition areas). Prior the start there is a race briefing to answer all the questions teams might have.
Gippsland area provides enormous opportunities for breathtaking courses. Ninety mile beach, Gippsland lakes, The Lakes Park, Lake Tyres State Park, caves, rivers and single tracks; the list goes on and on. Lakes Entrance is an adventure racing paradise.

During the race teams are taken to the most picturesque locations, an express tour including all the best highlights. Once the race is over, it is a time to celebrate a victory over the weak self, share stories with other teams and start planning your next adventure.
